“We need to get into stage 5 to lock up the lands that we select. There are some critical lands that we need to lock up. What we’re doing now is trying to identify prime land.”
Councillor Chris Wycotte –
“The offer from Canada was 100,000 hectares but he thinks it should at a minimum be the 5% that Canada initially offered. I don’t know if we should even settle at 5%, but that should be the bottom line not lower. Some nations got as much as 14.9%”
